I live in the 15th legislative district in my state. There are 33 such districts, each has one senator, and two representative seats. The 15th district is one of only three Democrat held districts. The senate has 3 Dems and the house only 8. One, just one,,of the Democrat candidates in the 15th spent $670,000 during their recent campaign (these funds came from an out of state source).
Why would a candidate spend $670,000 to be elected to an office which pays less than $20,000 annually unless they expected to sell it in some way?
