The so-called social gospel, and its bastard children in the liberation theology ‘family’ is not a plot by, or even the root of, the slouching of the mainlines and that of their accomplices in squishy evangelicalism, but is the natural outcome arising from the intellectually honest realization that the de-mythologizing of Christianity leaves them with no real message to preach; *as it was a self-indulgent, and certainly pervasive, refusal to read Scripture grammatically (i.e., as it is written literally), which was the root of error from the beginning (hath God said…), so it is now where the purveyors of the social justice gospel still languish. Nothing more do they contend for than an independency from the submission to the sovereignty of, belief in the miracles of, and conforming to the will of, the Triune God who wrote the Bible.
